A Decade of Trust. A New Chapter of Partnership: Lightenco Named Official Lighting and Electrification Partner of the Ottawa Senators

Ottawa Senators - Lightenco Partnership

Three-year agreement builds on a longstanding relationship helping modernize Canadian Tire Centre and reflects Lightenco’s continued growth as a Canadian energy solutions leader.

Lightenco is proud to announce a new three-year partnership with the Ottawa Senators, becoming the Official Lighting and Electrification Partner of the Ottawa Senators.

While the designation is new, the relationship is not.

For more than a decade, Lightenco has worked with the Senators on lighting projects at Canadian Tire Centre. Over the past three years, that relationship has included major lighting retrofits, helping modernize the facility’s lighting infrastructure and improve energy efficiency.

The new partnership represents a natural next step in a relationship built on technical expertise, consistent delivery and mutual trust.

“There’s something particularly meaningful about this partnership,” said Ray del Cojo, CEO of Lightenco. “We’ve been working with the Senators for more than ten years. We’ve grown together, built strong relationships and delivered projects we’re proud of. Becoming their Official Lighting and Electrification Partner is an exciting recognition of that history and what we can accomplish together in the years ahead.”

From Lighting Expertise to Integrated Energy Solutions

Headquartered in Ottawa, Lightenco has evolved from a lighting retrofit specialist 15 years ago into a comprehensive energy solutions company.

Today, Lightenco helps commercial, industrial and institutional organizations assess, engineer, implement and sustain improvements in building performance. Its services include advanced lighting and networked lighting controls, engineering consulting, electrical infrastructure, solar energy and EV charging solutions.

The company has been recognized four times among Canada’s Top Growing Companies by The Globe and Mail, most recently in 2026.

“Our work with the Senators is a great example of how we believe lasting client relationships should work,” said Steve Hubbard, Co-Founder of Lightenco. “You start by understanding what a client needs. You deliver good work. You earn their trust. And over time, you find new ways to create value. That’s been our experience with the Senators for more than a decade, and it’s the approach we’re bringing to organizations across Canada.”

Building on Strong Ottawa Roots

Both Lightenco and the Ottawa Senators have deep connections to Ottawa and share a commitment to supporting the community and investing in the future.

As part of the three-year partnership, Lightenco will participate in opportunities to connect with the Senators’ business community, strengthen relationships with clients and partners, and bring employees and their families closer to the team.

“For us, this is about more than having our name associated with an NHL team,” added Hubbard. “It’s about being part of something that brings our community together. It’s about recognizing the people who have helped build our company and creating new opportunities for the relationships that will shape our future.”

The partnership also comes at a time of significant growth for Lightenco, including the expansion of its engineering consulting and electrical services capabilities and continued investment in its Ottawa and Greater Toronto Area operations.

“Lightenco has been a trusted partner in the ongoing modernization of Canadian Tire Centre,” said Vice President, Business Operations Chris Phillips.  “We’re pleased to build on that relationship and welcome them as our Official Lighting and Electrification Partner. Their technical expertise, commitment to quality and strong community roots make this a partnership we’re excited to grow.”
